   Very seriously, over the years….we have seen over 52 wedding companies come…and go.

Most of them…were part time people, who threw up an inexpensive website… that thought that making a few extra bucks doing weddings would be easy…and fun.   Neither….is true.   To do wedding planning correctly, it’s very professional, very time consuming….and requires serious awareness of detail.

      Consequently….they have come….and thankfully….most of them….are gone.  But not all.

Please:  No matter who you hire here in Key West to manage your wedding …..be absolutely sure that you ask one very important question:  

Are you an “ACCREDITED” member……of the Better Business Bureau?

     Why?   Because:

*  A business has to be established …for the BBB to even consider you for accreditation.

*   Because any business that is accredited….has passed the BBB examination process.

*   Because any business that is accredited by the BBB…..enjoys an “A+ RATING” .

 

Contracting with any “accredited” Better Business Member…..should absolutely insure that you will have a positive and fair experience.

You get….what you pay for.

***  We have actually been approached…at the beach, by couples who have been left stranded because their wedding planner did not show up!!  It’s too late when you get to the beach and all of your guests are there waiting for you to get married!!  Make sure that whatever company you choose is reputable and reliable….

 

REMEMBER also:  If you are only asked to leave a $100-$200 deposit for a wedding,..you have no legal recourse when they don’t show up, all you’ve lost is $100-$200. and if they “skip town”, no wedding for you!   BE VERY CAREFUL! 

If someone says to you:  “Just pay us with cash or a check the day of your wedding….”, they have no obligation to show up and when they don’t….you are out of luck!!

If you get a planner that says, “you don’t need a contract”…..be very wary of them.   You will have no legal recourse when they don’t show up.

You want to be ABSOLUTELY SURE of who it is that you are working with…..long distance.    “It’s way too late…when you get to the beach!”

*WARNING*

Why does one of the wedding companies that I’m interested in ONLY want to talk with me……BY EMAIL… and never on the phone?

The answer:   Because the owners….are from a foreign country, they’re usually NOT American citizens,  and they speak very broken “English”.

They…don’t want you to know that until it’s too late.   That’s why.   They know that you won’t book with them.

They hire what’s called “Front people”, either an American receptionist…or “planners” (who are paid on commission) …..to handle any direct contact with you…over the telephone.

So…no matter who you are considering to do your wedding…….

* Tell whoever answers the phone that you want to speak directly with the owner.   NOT a hired American receptionist or sales person.    ASK THEM THEIR NAME….IF you ever get to speak with them.

REFUSE to discuss your wedding…..only by email.

Then….it’s up to you.    Otherwise…….. don’t be surprised….when you arrive at the beach for your wedding.   It’s WAY too late….then.

(Be sure to ask if anyone that you are even considering to do your wedding….is licensed. Better yet, ask for their license numbers.  Unfortunately….many…..are not.)
3)  We are well known at the Monroe County Court house, the people who issue all of the Marriage licenses.
4)  We are members of the Key West Chamber of Commerce, the Key West Innkeepers Association and our sister company, Commitments To Go! Key West is a member of the Key West Business Guild.

***We recently had a bride from New Jersey call us in a panic on a Friday afternoon….just before boarding the plane to come here, telling us that the “wedding company” that she hired had just sent her a “one liner” email….telling her that “Something has come up…and we won’t be doing your wedding.”  No phone call…no nothing.  When the bride attempted to call them…..they got what she describes as……”the run around”.  POOF!!!!  NO WEDDING!
This is certainly NOT the norm here…but it can and does happen occasionally, unfortunately.
This…is where being LICENSED comes in.  Just like anywhere else…..PROFESSIONALS…must be LICENSED with the City of Key West and with Monroe County.  It makes a difference.  Be very sure that you ask….to avoid disappointment.

1)  From sunrise….to sunset….there are 13 daylight hours.
2)  If we only perform 2 weddings….during that 13 hours, and there are 31 days in a month….that’s 62 weddings!  If we only perform 3….that’s 93 weddings a month!  That leaves 3 hours…..between each one!  No rush.
3)  We don’t “RENT” photographers, (whoever might be available). We ARE professional Photographers….with years and years of experience.  Big difference.

LOCATIONS:   Couples that come to Key West…..come here for a reason.
The beach.  If they wanted to get married in some stuffy little 10 foot wide “closet” with a few chairs jammed into it, surrounded wall to wall by noisy shops…they could just stay at home, right?  Right.
There are lots of great wedding locations here.  We perform weddings…at all of them, and enjoy doing that…..BUT….we mostly perform weddings on the beach….because there are NO site fees.  Many locations here charge to use their properties.  The fees are usually reasonable, and certainly understandable as well…..just please be aware that those locations  aren’t free.
We are happy to go anywhere here that you want to perform your wedding.

PRINTS:  Let’s face it, times have changed.  It’s not 1964.  You can now walk into any CVS, Kinko’s, Office Max etc., that all use expensive, super professional NORITSU digital professional  photo processing equipment, and get the very same top quality prints….for a tiny 15 cents each.  (That’s only $15.00……for 100 full size 4×6 matte prints!)  This….is why we don’t offer prints.  You’d be foolish to pay us…lots more money…..for 4×6’s.
WEDDING PHOTO ARCHIVES:  Recently, a well known and very good Photographer’s home burned to the ground.  She…went out of business, lost everything, and is still trying to recover from it.  No fault of hers whatsoever, but many wedding photos were lost in the fire. Some of them, from very recently done weddings were gone as well,  impossible to recover.  No wedding memories.
That…..won’t ever happen to your wedding photos.  We ARCHIVE every wedding that we do, electronically….and the images are stored in 3 separate locations.  Should you ever lose your wedding disc containing your cherished wedding memories……just call us!   We’ve got them, and we can make copies…..in minutes.
Because they’re stored in 3 separate locations…no matter what happens to one of these locations……the other 2 are still there.  Your wedding images….are safe.
As long as Weddings to Go Key West is in business…..you’ll be in business!
BUT…WHAT IF YOU’RE SICK OR SOMETHING ON MY WEDDING DAY???
NO problem.  We plan for that.  We have DUPLICATES…..of EVERYTHING…including STAFF!  We have duplicate Photographers and Officiants available at all times. We have exact duplicate camera set-ups ready to go, even duplicate Vans for your transportation, duplicate computers…..duplicate…EVERYTHING.  Think about that…while you are making your decision about who will be performing YOUR wedding.  It’s a very serious and BIG consideration.
Background MUSIC:   You WON’T…hear it.  It’s that simple.   You must remember that although the thought of romantic “background music” may seem nice in your mind’s eye, in reality….it’s highly impractical…..on a wide open beach.  We used to offer it.  We stopped.  At best, the music comes from some $89 “boom box”. Think about it. How good can it sound?
Even if you crank it right up, your music will sound highly distorted at best, and lousy.
We’ve witnessed too many bride’s faces, (including our own), turn from smile….to frown…..when they finally realized how bad that “$89 boom box” sounds on a beach, (and we used a $200 system!), along with all of the other extrinsic noise around from the palms, other people, the road, planes….etc.
A live performer will provide much clearer sound and a far better presentation for your wedding.  If you want background music we strongly suggest a live performer.
We never do any print advertising.  It costs money, which creates overhead…..that  “somebody”….eventually must pay for.  You and I both know that “somebody”….will eventually be you.  It increases costs….which, in turn….must increase your costs.

“DAY OF” COORDINATION:  You selected a BEACH wedding….for a reason.  You selected Key West as a wedding destination….for a reason. SIMPLE…is that reason.  Think about it.  Why…on earth….would you need a “rehearsal” ?
Isn’t that….one of those things that you really don’t want???   All of that formality?  Isn’t that….what you left back home?
IF you really feel that you need a rehearsal…for a beach wedding….let us know.  We are happy to go over everything with you…..free.
We have never believed in trying to “trick” you by only putting a few “doctored”, heavily “Photoshopped” photos on our website for you to see.  We put ALL of our photos there…..for you to see.  100%   We have never had to shoot “hundreds” of photos just to provide you with a handfull of good ones.  Each shot counts, and they’re all good.
FREE TRANSPORTATION:  Not tightly squeezed into the too small, totally uncomfortable “mini” back seat of some tiny, mini station wagon, or some old, beat up used car… but in the large, comfortable, spacious seats of our brand new climate controlled Honda Odyssey luxury vans.  You won’t be wrinkled when you arrive.
We offer this service on all of our packages.  Please…if you don’t have transportation, simply tell us when you book your date.  That’s all that we ask. We must schedule our “wedding mobiles”.   Not telling us until you arrive here…..never works.  We don’t want you upset.  Again….PLEASE!   If you will need transportation….book it when you book your wedding!

A Few Thoughts From Us…

The biggest reason…..is that we not only are located in Key West…….we live here FULL TIME, YEAR ROUND as well. It makes a big difference.


There are a some wedding companies from up on “the mainland” that get greedy from time to time…..and advertise wedding services here in Key West.
What you need to consider is: What happens, on your wedding day…if there is an accident ….anywhere …over the 130 miles from there…..to here?
What happens is……Rt. 1 is shut down….for hours. The fact that it’s your wedding day….doesn’t matter.   It’s impossible to get here.
We….on the other hand….are only 2 miles away.   You’re wedding…..goes as planned.

Certainly something to think about seriously.    Book someone local.

Most important:  We have NEVER missed a wedding.

We have never….ever…missed a wedding.

YOUR FLOWERS 100% of our flowers for your wedding come from Key West’s top florist…not the grocery store. Be careful.  Whenever you see the term “designers choice”… and that’s the ONLY choice…chances are the flowers are coming from the grocery store or someone is making  your bouquet in their kitchen to cut their costs. *”IN PERSON”  MEETINGS AND CONSULTATIONS: Naturally, like all businesses,  we have to account for our time.  We are happy to meet with you in person, but seriously…..there really is no reason to. We book weddings for people from all over the world, as you can see by our wedding albums.  In fact….98% of our clients…..are from out of state…..and even out of country!

 

***WEATHER: What if it rains??? Good question!  Key West is located in the “SUB-TROPICS” .  The weather here is very different than Miami’s weather just four hours north of us.    It can rain up to 10 minutes before your wedding….and not be detected on radar!  Remember, you are getting married OUTSIDE…on a beach!

USUALLY when it rains here:

a.)  it lasts a very short time, not all day

b.) USUALLY…the sun comes right back out, everything dries up, and it’s not an issue

c.) You and your guests should not have plans to leave Key West the day after your scheduled wedding date……just in case the following day is needed for your rain date!!  Please be sure to work the following day after your scheduled wedding date into your travel plans.

Recently, there has become a growing EPIDEMIC of guests bringing their iphones, CELL PHONES, “POINT AND CLICK” PALM SIZE DIGITAL CAMERAS, HAND HELD VIDEO CAMERAS, LARGE VIDEO CAMERAS …and in many cases DIGITAL SLR cameras to our weddings. This has created a very large problem. Recently….there were 30 different guests…with all of this stuff…all over the place DURING the wedding, interfering with the professional photographer trying to shoot wedding photos! This creates very stressful situations on your wedding day that we do not want to be part of.  It defeats our goal of a stress-free wedding for YOU.

We want to provide you with the best possible wedding photos for your memories. We now need your help to achieve this goal.

“ALCOHOL” :

Over the past year….more than ever before in our history……..ALCOHOL….has presented serious problems at some of our weddings.

It has gotten so bad…than in one case….we actually were forced to drive a bride, groom and 2 guests…..directly to the Police Station, and have them removed from our vehicle.

The Police….instructed us NOT to perform  their  wedding…..and they actually hired a cab….to take them back to their hotel…..with a very firm warning about hearing anything from them….again.

That couple……ended up not getting married at all while they were here…..and had 15 guests.

In another incident….at 11 pm. on a Sunday night….after their wedding was well over……we received 2 separate phone calls….from a very drunk groom.   The first….was when he was standing up…in the middle of the A&B Lobster House dining room……screaming into  the phone…….in front of everybody…..about how “f……g no good we were”…..because their cake……hadn’t been delivered to the restaurant.  (It was there.)

He went on with a profanity laced rant…..for 3 or 4 minutes….until the GM of the restaurant….had to “slow him down”.

Literally 5 minutes later…..he called…….to apologize.    He must have said “I am so sorry”…….11 times.     Too late.
  
TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR:     WE ARE NOT….GOING TO TOLERATE ANY RIDICULOUS or THREATENING  ALCOHOL FUELED BEHAVIOR BY ANYONE….PERIOD.    NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
 
PLEASE:
1)   IF YOU OR YOUR GUESTS HAVE TO DRINK BEFORE YOUR WEDDING……
PLEASE DON’T HIRE US.
 
2)   IF YOU HAVE TO DRINK…..IN ORDER TO GET MARRIED….
PLEASE DON’T HIRE US.
 
 
***Down the road, even years later, any disgruntled Bride or Groom can very easily say that “they didn’t know what they were doing”….because they had been drinking.   It happens all the time.
 
WE….have NO interest…..in having to go to Court….as witnesses.  
 
 IF YOU DO HIRE US…..AND WE HAVE “1” PROBLEM WITH YOU….OR ANY ONE OF YOUR GUESTS…….
 
                      A)   WE WILL CALL THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY.
 
                      B)   WE WILL STOP…..AND LEAVE YOUR WEDDING….IMMEDIATELY…..WHETHER YOU ARE MARRIED….OR NOT.
                      C)   THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS  .
 
WEDDINGS TO GO KEY WEST HAS A “ZERO” TOLERANCE POLICY REGARDING ALCOHOL USE BEFORE AND DURING WEDDINGS.  
   We have absolutely no interest in having to deal with people who think that        they can “handle” their liquor…….
    when in reality…..they obviously can’t.    

Many have tried to imitate us.

But….for YOUR wedding day,
